Arm-Leg(Thigh) Lift Surgery

Arm-Leg(Thigh) Lift Surgery

The most moved parts of the human body are undoubtedly the arms and legs. These limbs, which allow us to easily handle many of our daily tasks, can undergo various deformations due to aging and weight loss. As a result of decrease in subcutaneous tissue, loosening and sagging of the skin, an undesirable appearance may occur in the arm and leg area, even excess skin may touch your body; leading to problems such as sweating, redness and rash. You can have a more aesthetic appearance by having arm and leg lift surgery to remove the sagging and uneven skin excess that occurs on your arms and legs.

Who Can Benefit From Arm-Leg Lift Surgery?

Leg lift surgery is an operation preferred by people who have excess fat on the skin of their legs and have sagging on the inner leg. Deformations can be seen in the thigh area due to fat loss in people who gain and lose weight rapidly, lose excess weight after pregnancy or bariatric surgery. Before the procedure is performed, the sagging around the patients leg is checked. If there is fatness in the skin of the legs, but there is no significant sagging, liposuction is performed initially. If there is a significant sagging, the fat is burned by liposuction first and the skin that has lost its elasticity is collected and sutured with leg lift surgery.

The skin in the arm area can sag over time due to old age, rapid weight gain and the effects of gravity. Flabby arm skin that looks shapeless also negatively affects a person psychologically. Arm lift surgery is an operation that people who complain of this problem resort to to end the sagging in the arm area and have a more taut skin.

Arm-Leg Lift Surgery Procedure

If the fat tissues in the leg area have not yet lost their vitality, liposuction can be performed. In cases where the skin loses its elasticity, excess fat is removed together with the skin and restored to its former tension. During the operation, excess skin and fat tissue is removed with an incision made from the inguinal region to the back. Then this incision is closed with a suture, absorbent drains are used, and the next day it is pulled out painlessly. The operation, performed under general anesthesia, lasts about two hours.

Arm lift surgery, also called Brachioplasty, is performed according to the size of the sagging in the arm. If there is a thickening in the arm area instead of sagging, laser fat removal can be performed. But if there is a sagging of the arm, surgery is necessary. Before the procedure, the incision site is drawn and the incision is made so that there is a vertical line extending from the inside of the arm to the elbow. After removing excess fat, the arm skin is tightly closed with a stitch. The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 2 hours. Arm and leg stretching surgery can be performed together in combination.

Healing Process

After the operation, the patient is hospitalized for 1 or 2 days while their condition is observed. After the operation is completed, the patient is put on a corset to keep the skin taut and stable. Regular use of this corset for several weeks accelerates recovery. Edema, bruises and swelling due to surgery may appear for several days. In case of pain, painkillers recommended by the doctor should be used. Patients can take a shower after 2-3 days and return their daily life after first week. Stitches are removed in the hospital after about 10-12 days. At the end of a month, the patient regains their former pace and can easily move their arms and legs. It is also recommended patients should not start heavy exercise at first six week.

Although the incision scar may appear puffy and red in the first period after the surgery, this scar will fade and become less obvious over time. At the end of first a year, the incison scar will become pale and indistinct in skin color, forming an image that will not disturb the person.
