DENTAL CROWNS

DENTAL CROWNS

Dental Crowns are placed over a tooth to cover and restore its shape and size, strength, and improve appearance. The presence of discolored, broken or missing teeth both demoralizes people and lowers their self-esteem. Having healthy looking teeth allows people to increase their self confidence as well as an aesthetic image. Having broken, missing or discolored teeth affects your social life as well as your motivation in business life badly. Dental crowns completely cover your teeth that look bad and unhealthy, allowing you to have a healthy and aesthetic appearance. Dental crowns can be needed for many reasons. Dental crown treatment can be used for; to protect a weak tooth from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth, restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down, cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn't a lot of tooth left, hold a dental bridge in place, cover misshapened or severely discolored teeth, cover a dental implant, make a cosmetic modification.

Dental crowns have many types as building materials. Crowns are made of pure metals or metal mixtures, as well as resin or ceramics. Metals used in the manufacture of crowns may include gold alloy, palladium or substances such as nickel, chromium. When compared with other types of crowns, metal crowns provide less tooth deformation when applied, and also minimize wear on the opposite tooth. Metal crowns exhibit resistance to situations such as biting and chewing due to their solid structure. It is more preferable to use metal crowns to correct deformations in the molars. Also, since it will not be in a visible place, it will not create a bad image for patients if its color is not the same.

Porcelain-mixed dental crowns, unlike metal dental crowns, can have the same color as your teeth. Even though porcelain-mixed dental crowns are more aesthetic, it deforms the opposite tooth more compared to metal and resin crowns. Porcelain mixed dental crown has less durability than metal crown. As a result of this, rupture and fracture situations can be observed in the crown parts of the teeth. The color of porcelain crowns is more similar to the color of your teeth than ceramic crowns. But due to the metals contained in porcelain-mixed metal crowns, it can appear as a dark metal colored line, especially on the gums. It is recommended to use these crowns on the front or back teeth. Resin dental crowns, on the other hand, are a more cost effective type of crowns compared to other types of dental crowns. But over time, they can cause problems such as wear and break. Ceramic crowns, on the other hand, give you more attractive image, but they are not as useful as metal crowns in terms of durability. It is advisable to use them on the front teeth.
