Vaginoplasty includes operations performed to treat negative changes and deformities that occur in the genital area of women for various reasons and to give them a more aesthetic appearance. Problems such as sagging, loosening and loss of elasticity in the vagina area are observed in women after childbirth, age and various gynecological ailments. This condition will not occur at the same rate in every woman and varies according to body structure. Why Is Vaginoplasty Performed?
Usually, as a result of repeated and difficult births, especially sexual intercourse, advancing age, abortion, and similar interventions, the vagina can expand. In the vagina whose aesthetic appearance begins to deteriorate; loss of sensitivity and sensation, dryness and tension, sexual dissatisfaction and sagging may occur. The purpose of the vaginoplasty operation is to tighten the loosened vagina, restore vaginal stricture and to ensure that the women also gets pleasure from sexual intercourse. Vaginoplasty Procedure
Vaginoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and takes on average of 1 hour. The main procedure to be performed in vaginoplasty is narrowing of the vaginal entry and vaginal canal. If desired, in addition to surgery, procedures such as reduction of the inner lips known as labiaplasty in the genital area and augmentation of the outer lips can be performed. During the operation, excess tissues are removed from back of the wall of the vagina and with this way the vaginal mucosa is narrowed. At the same time, it is ensured that the compressed area is more permanent with the sutures applied to the large levator ani muscle surrounding the vagina. In vaginoplasty operations, the length of the vagina is not interfered with, a narrow and long channel is created in this area instead of the enlarged area. If a person has a urinary or fecal incontinence problem, these problems can also be intervened during surgery. After vaginoplasty, which is a painless and risk free, the scar is not visible.
Healing Process
Taking care of personal hygiene after vaginoplasty surgery, regular care and practices recommended by doctors ensure that the healing process is accelerated. After a few hours of rest after the operation, the patient can be discharged. If local pains occurs, patients can use painkillers prescribed by a Doctor. One day later patient can take a shower. The patient can return to work after the second day. It is normal to experience pain, swelling and slight spot bleeding for several days after the procedure. Depending on the type of surgery performed, sexual intercourse may be avoided for a certain period of time. It is not recommended to perform applications such as massage, sauna, Turkish bath, waxing or laser for 4-6 weeks.
